Updated Tata Punch EV and New Tiago EV Unveiled in Nepal
Sipradi Trading, the authorised distributor of Tata Motors in Nepal, has unveiled the new Tata Punch EV facelift and the new Tiago EV at the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026. The event, held at Kathmandu's Bhrikutimandap, marks the debut of these electric vehicles in the Nepali market. The expo features a wide range of EVs priced from Rs 18.5 lakh to Rs 3.8 crore, showcasing the growing diversity and competition in the Nepali EV market.
The Punch EV, already available in its earlier form, now features a larger battery, more equipment, and revised styling. It is aimed at buyers seeking an affordable city EV with better real‑world range. The Tiago EV, a new addition, offers a compact hatchback option for daily commutes.
Bigger Battery, More Range
The new Punch EV will offer two battery choices: 30 kWh and 40 kWh, up from the earlier 25 kWh and 35 kWh packs. The Nepal-spec model will feature the 40 kWh battery pack, paired with a front-mounted electric motor. The Tiago EV also offers similar battery options, providing a range of 300 to 325 km on a full charge.
- 30 kWh Punch EV: claimed ARAI range around 280 km, with "real‑world" range targets of up to about 365 km.
- 40 kWh Punch EV: claimed ARAI range around 468 km, with an expected usable range in the 335–355 km band in everyday driving.
The electric motor produces 129 hp and 154 Nm of torque, offering impressive performance. Tata claims the Punch EV facelift can accelerate from 0–100 km/h in under nine seconds and comes with three drive modes — City, Eco, and Sport — along with four levels of regenerative braking adjustable through paddle shifters.
5-Star Bharat NCAP Rating
The 2026 Tata Punch EV has received a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating for both adult occupant protection (AOP) and child occupant protection (COP), scoring 31.09/32 and 45/49 points, respectively. This high safety rating underscores Tata's commitment to safety, with the Punch EV offering six airbags, Isofix mounts, and ESC as standard.
Special Pricing and Warranty
The introductory price for the new Punch EV is set at Rs 33.99 lakh, with a special offer of Rs 32.99 lakh for bookings made during the expo. The Tiago EV starts at Rs 28.99 lakh. Both vehicles come with an 11-year or 220,000 km extended warranty, enhancing their appeal to potential buyers.
Faster Charging and Infrastructure
To address range and charging concerns, the updated Punch EV supports 65 kW DC fast charging. Using a DC fast charger, the car can be charged from 20% to 80% in roughly 26 minutes. A 15‑minute quick top‑up is claimed to add about 135 km of range. Sipradi and Tata have been expanding public charging points across Nepal, with over 21 EV service centers, 40 DC charging points, and 150 AC charging points currently operational.
Features and Safety
On the outside, the facelift brings LED headlamps with DRLs, connected LED tail‑lamps, and up to 16‑inch aero-optimized alloy wheels. Inside, the Punch EV gains several comfort and tech features:

Safety equipment is also upgraded. The new Punch EV is expected to get 6 airbags, hill‑hold assist, electronic stability control (ESC), tyre‑pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and ISOFIX child seat mounts as standard on key variants. A 360‑degree camera system is included for parking and driving in tight city streets.
