iCaur V27 and NAIMA Expo 2026: A Record-Breaking Showcase of Nepal's Mobility Future

Chery Group’s **iCaur V27 has officially arrived in Nepal, ahead of its anticipated debut at the NAIMA Mobility Expo 2026**. SPG Automobiles, the authorized distributor of iCaur vehicles in Nepal, has begun road testing the SUV on public roads, confirming its presence in the country.

What is confirmed

SPG Automobiles is preparing to showcase the V27 at the auto expo, which began on August 11 and concluded on August 16. While the company has not confirmed the pricing or immediate sales plans, the SUV is expected to be a highlight at the event. The V27 will initially serve as a showcase model, with market launch details still pending. The expo, held at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu, featured more than 55 automotive and mobility brands and over 53 new product launches. The event drew senior representatives from the government, Nepal Police, and transport-related organizations, underscoring the close ties between mobility, road safety, and public policy.

Powertrain and performance

The V27 features an Extended-Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) setup, combining a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine with a 34.3 kWh CATL LFP battery. This configuration allows for a CLTC pure electric range of up to 210 km and a combined driving range of around 1,200 km with a full fuel tank. The SUV is available in both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations in China. The AWD version produces 336 kW and 505 Nm of torque, enabling it to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.5 seconds. The RWD model delivers 185 kW and 300 Nm of torque.

Battery and range

The V27's battery setup provides a significant electric-only range, enhancing its appeal as a long-range electrified SUV. The combined range with both battery and fuel is impressive, making it suitable for long journeys.

Size and equipment

This large SUV measures 5,055 mm in length, 1,976 mm in width, and 1,894 mm in height, with a 2,910 mm wheelbase. Inside, it features a 15.4-inch 2.5K infotainment display powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P cockpit chip. Other interior highlights include a 23-speaker audio system, leather upholstery, generous rear legroom, and a panoramic sunroof.

Safety and technology

For safety, the V27 is equipped with Horizon Robotics' Journey 6P intelligent driving chip, LiDAR-based Level 2 ADAS, seven airbags, ABS, EBD, and a range of advanced driver assistance features. This positions the V27 as a premium offering in terms of safety and technology.

The NAIMA Expo also showcased other significant models, including the **Hyundai Ioniq 9, Nissan Tekton, and MG Majestor**, among others. This large number of new launches is expected to give Nepali buyers more choices across different price segments, with a strong focus on electric vehicles.

The expo concluded with over 180,000 visitors over its six-day run, surpassing initial expectations of 150,000 attendees. NAIMA President Ritu Singh Vaidya highlighted the participation of more than 55 brands and the unveiling of 53 new products as major achievements. She emphasized the event's role as a platform for showcasing vehicles and technologies and as a forum for knowledge-sharing and learning.

For Nepali buyers, the V27 presents a rugged, long-range option in the hybrid and EV segment. The main question remains whether SPG Automobiles will announce a retail launch soon after the expo or keep it limited to display and market evaluation.

The expo also featured a broad mix of electric vehicles, hybrids, passenger vehicles, two-wheelers, commercial vehicles, charging solutions, automotive technologies, and mobility services. It included learning sessions and activities aimed at providing visitors with a broader understanding of the direction in which Nepal's mobility sector is heading.
