India’s two-wheeler retail market posted its strongest July ever in 2026, with 18,18,289 registrations and a 28.25% year-on-year rise from 14,17,767 units a year earlier. Monthly sales were a touch softer, slipping 0.56% from 18,28,458 units in June 2026.
For Nepali buyers, the nearest link runs through scooters. The **Vespa 125 is already on sale here at Rs 4.04 lakh. It sits above the Vespa ZX 125 at Rs 3.54 lakh and below the Vespa S 125 at Rs 4.14 lakh**, so any price change in Piaggio’s scooter line in India can eventually influence how Vespa is placed in Nepal.
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India was back at No. 1 in July with 4,69,687 units and a 25.83% share. Hero MotoCorp followed with 4,40,662 units.
TVS Motor held third place at 3,74,113 registrations. Bajaj Auto posted 1,80,183 units, and Suzuki Motorcycle India crossed 1,02,668 units.
Royal Enfield logged 95,080 units and Yamaha 67,781 units. Classic Legends sold 4,541 units, while Aprilia and Vespa together recorded 3,684 units.
These brands matter in Nepal because several already have dealer and customer recognition here. India-side retail momentum often shapes export allocation and pricing pressure in our market.
Electric two-wheelers also strengthened further, taking a record 11.24% of India’s total two-wheeler retail sales. That was up from 10.59% in June and 7.65% in July 2025.
Within that segment, Ather Energy grew 70.22% to 30,357 units. Greaves Electric’s Ampere rose to 10,125, River climbed to 5,954, and BGauss reached 5,518.
Ola Electric moved in the opposite direction, slipping 23.54% to 14,106 registrations. Its share fell to 0.78% from 1.30% a year earlier.
For Nepal, the reading is simple. India’s EV scooter race is getting tighter, but there is still no Nepal-side confirmation that Ola or the other fast-growing EV players are on an imminent local launch path.
