The Nepali automobile market failed to meet sales expectations this Dashain. Severe floods and landslides damaged major highways and blocked critical trade routes with China, preventing thousands of booked vehicles from reaching customers on time.

NADA Automobiles Association of Nepal president Surendra Upreti noted that the festive season typically accounts for a significant portion of annual sales. This year, however, the volume did not reach even half of the projected figures. Many customers cancelled their bookings after dealers could not guarantee delivery before the festival.
Despite these challenges, importers prioritized customer satisfaction over profit margins. Dealers absorbed significantly higher transportation costs to navigate alternative routes, successfully delivering over 3,000 vehicles to Kathmandu and other cities during the period.

Key delivery figures include:
- Tata: 1,185 units
- BYD: 700 units
- Nammi: 500+ units
- Deepal: 230 units
- Omoda, Jaecoo, and Icaur: 300+ units
- GAC Aion: 40 units

With road conditions slowly improving, dealers are now focusing on Tihar. Approximately 3,000 additional vehicles remain in transit or at border points.

Each is a dated change we applied to a published ex-showroom price after checking it. A logged change may be a distributor's revision or our own correction coming into line with the official figure — the log says which way each one moved, and when, not why.
