Cell-level repair instead of full pack replacement

CATL, the world's largest EV battery maker, has rolled out a new Ning Service cell-to-pack repair programme. Instead of swapping out an entire battery pack, technicians now fix individual damaged cells.

A structural battery pack replacement usually costs around 100,000 yuan. CATL says its deep repair method brings that down to roughly 10,000-20,000 yuan. That works out to up to ten times cheaper than a full replacement.

Global service network

CATL will expand its directly operated Ning Service centres to 100 cities worldwide in the second half of 2026. This adds to an existing franchise network of 1,376 service centres spread across 84 countries.

The company uses automation and robotics for diagnostics and repair. It's targeting a turnaround of 72 hours or less, and in some cases around 48 hours.

Eight direct Ning Service centres are already running in China, plus two international sites in Norway and Istanbul. CATL wants the programme to eventually cover most mainstream new energy vehicles.

For Nepali EV owners, this is still a global after-sales development. Local availability, pricing in Rs, and timelines for Nepal have not been confirmed yet.
