Avatr has taken the next step toward launching its new T09 plug-in hybrid SUV by completing regulatory filing with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
What the Avatr T09 is
- Size and layout: The T09 is a large six-seat SUV, measuring 5,285 mm long, 2,025 mm wide and up to 1,820 mm tall, on a 3,150 mm wheelbase. - Powertrain: It is a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) with two configurations, both using a 71.24 kWh ternary lithium battery and a top speed of 220 km/h. - Design and options: Buyers in China will get extensive customization: different grille and rim designs, roof glass, front and rear bumpers, skid plates, spoilers, side steps, two‑tone paint, roof rails and varied exterior badging. - Equipment: The SUV includes an Event Data Recorder (EDR) and supports an ETC device, along with tyre choices of 255/50R21 or 275/45R22.
Nepal angle: why this filing matters
Avatr is no stranger to Nepal: premium electric SUVs such as the Avatr 11 and Avatr 07 are already on sale here through local distributors, positioned in the Rs 1.35–2.30 crore bracket. That makes the T09 especially relevant for Nepali buyers who want a large, three-row family SUV but also need the flexibility of a plug-in hybrid for long highway trips and limited fast-charging infrastructure outside major cities.
However, no distributor in Nepal has yet announced plans to import the T09, and pricing or launch timing for our market has not been confirmed. Given Avatr’s active expansion and its existing presence in Kathmandu, the T09 could become a future addition to the brand’s Nepal portfolio, but for now it remains a China-market development Nepali buyers should keep an eye on.
