Tata Motors has introduced an updated Tiago EV in India with revised looks and more features, while Nepali buyers are still getting the pre-facelift version that recently entered our market.
Tiago EV in Nepal today
The Tata Tiago EV is already officially on sale in Nepal through Sipradi dealers.
- Current prices are reported in the Rs 27.5–30 lakh range (ex-showroom) depending on variant and equipment.
- Most Nepali listings focus on the 24kWh battery option with a claimed range of around 250–300km on a full charge, a 55kW motor and DC fast charging capability.
- Boot space is about 240 litres, which owners and reviewers highlight as practical for city family use.
In Nepal, Tata is actively pushing the Tiago EV as an entry-level family EV hatchback. Recent campaigns such as "Switch to Tiago EV" have even allowed customers to exchange old motorcycles or scooters and step up to an electric car with low down-payment schemes, free fast charging and tax waivers during offer periods.
What’s changed in India – and why Nepal should care
The long-term review of the pre-facelift car from India highlights what many Nepali buyers will experience today:
- Comfortable cabin with good headroom and space for a small hatchback.
- Real-world efficiency of roughly 7–8km per kWh, translating to around 190–200km usable city range on the 24kWh pack.
- City-friendly size, easy parking and an EV’s advantage of running the AC while stationary without fuel concerns.
- Some ergonomic niggles such as the rotary drive selector occasionally failing to engage and a cluttered instrument display.
The new Indian facelift mainly brings:
- Sharper exterior styling and new colours.
- Updated interior design, new tech features and added safety equipment (including more airbags and driver aids in higher trims).
- Same basic battery options (around 19kWh and 24kWh), tuned for similar real-world urban range.
Although Tata has not yet announced the facelift for Nepal, our market traditionally follows India with a short lag. When the refreshed Tiago EV comes here, Nepali buyers can reasonably expect:
- A more modern look and upgraded cabin.
- Extra features, especially on higher variants.
- Possible price revision: better equipment could push prices slightly above today’s Rs 27–30 lakh band, though it will depend on import duties and dealer strategy at launch.
What it means for Nepali EV shoppers
For now, the existing Tiago EV in Nepal remains a strong choice for city-focused families who want:
- A compact EV that fits tight urban parking.
- Lower running costs versus petrol hatchbacks.
- Enough range for daily commuting and occasional intercity runs with planning.
Those who prioritise the latest styling and features may choose to wait and see when Tata brings the facelifted Tiago EV to Nepal. Budget-focused buyers, however, might benefit from current offers or potential discounts on the pre-facelift stock if and when the updated model is announced.
