MG's official distributor in Nepal, Paramount Motors, is preparing to bring a new all‑electric lifestyle pickup truck, the MG U9, to the Nepali market. According to the distributor, the model will be publicly unveiled at the NIMA Mobility Expo 2026 in Kathmandu.

Battery, range and performance

According to the announcement, the MG U9 uses a 102.2 kWh LFP battery pack with a dual‑motor all‑wheel‑drive setup.

  • Claimed driving range is up to 430 km on a single charge (WLTP standard).
  • Maximum output is listed at 325 kW from the dual motors.
  • The company says the pickup can reach a top speed of 180 km/h.

The U9 supports DC fast charging. Under ideal conditions, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in about 10 minutes, according to the distributor. Detailed AC home‑charging times have not yet been shared.

Size, payload and utility

The MG U9 is a double‑cab pickup aimed at buyers who want both passenger comfort and load‑carrying ability.

  • Overall length: 5,500 mm
  • Width: 1,997 mm
  • Height: 1,860 mm
  • Wheelbase: 3,300 mm
  • Ground clearance: 220 mm
  • Wheel size: 20‑inch alloy wheels

The announcement claims a payload capacity of 1,100 kg and loading/towing capacity up to 3,500 kg. That puts it in mixed lifestyle and light commercial territory.

Interior and comfort features

Inside, the MG U9 is positioned as a premium, feature‑heavy EV pickup:

  • 12.3‑inch infotainment screen
  • JBL audio system with 8 speakers
  • 64‑colour ambient lighting

The flagship variant is said to offer an upgraded driver's seat with:

  • 8‑way electronic adjustment
  • ventilation function
  • massage function
  • memory function

On paper, these features bring the U9 closer to high‑end SUVs in terms of comfort, away from the usual work‑focused pickup cabin.

Safety and driver assistance

The MG U9 will come with a full suite of active safety and driver assistance technologies, according to the distributor:

  • 360‑degree HD camera
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Autonomous emergency braking (AEB)
  • Lane‑keep assist (LKA)

The pickup also supports vehicle‑to‑load (V2L) functionality. The battery can power external electrical devices such as tools, appliances or camping gear when required.

Expected pricing and availability in Nepal

Official pricing and variant details for Nepal have not yet been disclosed. Based on similar large‑battery electric pickups and SUVs currently sold in the region, buyers should expect a price in the upper premium band (likely above Rs 60 lakh), with the final figure depending on import duties and MG's pricing strategy.

Paramount Motors is expected to share exact prices, booking dates and delivery timelines at or after the NIMA Mobility Expo 2026. For now, the MG U9 is clearly targeted at Nepali buyers looking for a high‑range, fast‑charging electric pickup with strong payload and modern ADAS features for both city and highway use.
