Kia is currently testing the next-generation Sonet compact SUV. The vehicle was recently spotted during high-altitude trials, revealing several exterior design changes.
The test model features a split LED headlamp setup with the main lights positioned lower on the front fascia. It also sports a new clamshell-style bonnet. At the rear, the SUV has redesigned, angular LED tail lamps. The design of the outside rear-view mirrors and alloy wheels has also been updated.
Inside, the new version is expected to offer a dual-screen infotainment setup, 360-degree cameras, and Level 2 ADAS. The vehicle may move to the K1 platform to improve cabin space. Kia is likely to keep the current 1.2-liter petrol, 1.0-liter turbo-petrol, and 1.5-liter diesel engine options. A strong hybrid powertrain could arrive later.
In the current Nepal market, the Kia Sonet is available in two variants: the HTE(O) at Rs 42.90 lakh and the HTK(O) at Rs 48.40 lakh. This places the Sonet above the Kia Syros EV, which is priced at Rs 37.90 lakh, and just below the Kia Carens, which ranges from Rs 48.90 lakh to Rs 52.90 lakh.
Official details regarding the Nepal launch date and final specifications have not been announced.
