NADA steps in with cash support for flood victims
NADA Automobiles Association of Nepal has extended Rs 10 lakh in cash support to people affected by recent flash floods in Kerung, Rasuwa, Timure and nearby areas.
A delegation led by NADA president Surendra Kumar Upreti met Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Waglé in Kathmandu and handed over a cheque of Rs 10 lakh. The amount will be deposited in the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund to help with relief and rehabilitation.
On-ground relief in flood-hit areas
Alongside the cash support, NADA teams are visiting the affected locations to identify immediate needs of displaced families. The association is distributing food grains, essential household items and other relief supplies directly to residents hit by the disaster.
NADA has framed these activities as part of its social responsibility, stating that supporting citizens during natural disasters is a key duty of the automotive business community.
The delegation included NADA vice president Bikram Singhania, general secretary Milan Babu Malla, secretary Megh Raj Paudel, and co-treasurer Nilamani Pathak, among others.
For Nepal’s vehicle buyers and dealers, this shows the industry body taking an active role beyond showroom sales, helping communities where its customers and staff live and work.

The measures include customs and tax exemptions, loan restructuring, interest rate concessions, additional credit facilities, and easier processing of insurance claims. NADA highlighted the cancellation of registration for commercial vehicles destroyed by the floods and customs duty exemptions for re-importing vehicles and equipment as significant relief for affected businesses.
Nepal requests 40 Bailey bridges from UK and China after floods
The Nepal government has requested 40 Bailey bridges from China and the United Kingdom following floods in Bhotekoshi that swept away 35 motorable bridges. Prime Minister Balendra Shah announced that 10 Bailey bridges have been requested from the UK and 30 from China to restore connectivity. The British Embassy in Kathmandu has been asked to provide bridges longer than 70 meters. Restoration work is ongoing for communication and electricity services, with electricity yet to be restored to 5.77% of households. Efforts are also underway to open temporary routes and install Bailey bridges at key locations.
Govt confirms customs waiver for flood-hit vehicles
The government has announced a full customs waiver for businesses affected by the Bhotekoshi floods, allowing them to import replacement commercial and transport vehicles without paying duties. This decision, made by the Cabinet on September 3, aims to help businesses resume operations. Additionally, businesses can cancel the registration of damaged vehicles without fees, and benefit from easier financing for replacements. The government will review the loan-to-value ratio and provide interest rate relief for affected borrowers. Importers can also adjust previously paid customs duties for goods destroyed by the floods.
Kaiyi Nepal joins flood relief efforts with substantial aid
Kaiyi Nepal has stepped up to support flood victims in the Bhotekoshi region. In a joint effort with G.O. Automobiles and Laxmi E-Mobility, the authorized distributors of Kaiyi in Nepal, the company provided three truckloads of relief materials. These included mattresses, bedding, and gas stoves, aimed at assisting families displaced by the floods. The Bhotekoshi disaster has impacted areas such as Rasuwa, Dhading, Nuwakot, Gorkha, and Chitwan, leaving many in need of immediate assistance.
