Two Nepali Hyundai technicians go to South Korea for skills upgrade
Two young technicians working at Laxmi Hyundai have travelled to South Korea for advanced training at the Hyundai Global Learning Center. They will attend the Hyundai Talent Academy, focusing on testing and repairing modern vehicles and learning about new automotive technology.
Four months from classroom to full-time job
Their path from technical education to employment took about four months. In that time they:
- studied in the classroom under a CTEVT-affiliated polytechnic
- worked at Laxmi Hyundai workshops as apprentices
- gained hands-on experience in servicing, diagnostics and repairs
After the apprenticeship, Laxmi Hyundai offered them full-time jobs.
Laxmi Hyundai’s training pipeline
Laxmi Hyundai says it gives internship and apprenticeship opportunities to more than 50 students a year from polytechnic institutions under CTEVT. These students are exposed to workshop discipline, problem solving and professional behaviour along with technical skills.
The company believes international training like the Hyundai Talent Academy will sharpen Nepali technicians’ skills, with the knowledge then applied in local Hyundai workshops. Its stated goal is to help young people learn world-class skills and still build their automotive career in Nepal, rather than seeing training only as a way to leave the country.
