Laxmi Commercial Vehicles, the official distributor of SML Isuzu buses in Nepal, has held a customer meet in Surkhet where it presented the Hiroi BS6 school bus for the Nepali market.

Focus on safer school transport

According to the company, the Hiroi school bus has been brought to Nepal with the aim of making school transportation safer, more modern and reliable for students. It is offered in multiple seating capacities to match standard school bus norms and the needs of different schools.

The announcement states that Hiroi school bus variants cover around 36 to 56 seats, so operators can choose a size that fits their route, student load and style of operation. In India, the SML Isuzu Hiroi School Bus is listed in variants such as 36, 42, 44, 52 and 62-seater, with a 3,455 cc diesel engine producing about 111 hp and 400 Nm torque, so buyers can expect similar mechanical specifications adapted for Nepal.

BS6 Phase-2 technology and safety features

The Hiroi bus is built to meet BS6 Phase-2 (OBD-II) emission norms, which means cleaner exhaust and more advanced engine monitoring compared to older BSIV school buses. According to the announcement, key technology features include:

  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC) to help maintain stability during sudden maneuvers
  • Hill Start Assist to prevent rollback on slopes
  • Electronic hydraulic control unit for more precise braking
  • Multi-information meter cluster providing clear driver information
  • Gear coaching system to guide more efficient shifting
  • Power and Economy driving modes to balance performance and fuel saving

These features aim to improve safety, fuel efficiency and operating ease for school bus drivers.

Comfort and operating costs

The company highlights that the Hiroi school bus offers wide and comfortable seating, a strengthened suspension setup for uneven roads, and lower operating and maintenance costs compared to older models. It also points to high fuel tank capacity and reliable after-sales service and spare parts support through Laxmi Commercial Vehicles’ network.

The bus is designed specifically with daily student commuting in mind, with emphasis on comfortable seats, stable ride quality and a safety-focused layout. It arrives as a new option for schools, fleet operators and transport entrepreneurs looking to update their school bus fleet.

Customer interaction in Surkhet

During the Surkhet event, Laxmi Commercial Vehicles interacted directly with school owners, transport business operators, fleet managers and existing customers. The company shared information about after-sales service, spare parts availability, technical support and future plans. Participants reportedly gave positive feedback on the service commitment and the new Hiroi school bus.

No official Nepal-market price in NPR was disclosed at the event. In India, the Hiroi School Bus is listed from around ₹20.85 lakh ex-showroom; Nepali buyers should expect a higher on-road price after import duties and local costs. Exact Nepal pricing will need to be confirmed with Laxmi Commercial Vehicles dealers.

Laxmi Commercial Vehicles says it will continue to strengthen customer trust in Nepal through quality commercial vehicles, dependable service and tailored transport solutions for school and staff transport operators.
