SML Mahindra brings Hiroi BS6 school bus to Nepal
Laxmi Commercial Vehicles, the authorised distributor of SML Mahindra vehicles in Nepal, has launched the Hiroi BS6 School Bus at a customer meet in Surkhet. The model targets schools looking for safer and more reliable transport, according to the company.
The launch event was led by Suman Nagpal, Country Manager for Nepal at SML Mahindra Limited, and Sanjay Khadka, Sales and After-Sales Head at Laxmi Commercial Vehicles.
What the bus offers
The Hiroi school bus will be sold in 36-seat to 56-seat configurations. This gives schools room to choose based on route length and student numbers. The company says the model is built to meet Government of Nepal school-bus regulations.
According to SML Mahindra’s product information for the Hiroi line, the bus uses a BS6-compliant diesel engine with 85 kW power and 400 Nm torque, and the wheelbase is available in 4370 mm and 5300 mm versions. The same listing mentions ABS, air brakes, power steering, and a 180 mm ground clearance.

Why it matters for Nepali buyers
For schools and transport operators, this launch adds a newer BS6 option to the school-bus segment. The wider seating range should help buyers pick a bus that fits the size of their student fleet. The safety and braking features reported by the company are aimed at regular school use.
The company has not shared Nepal-specific pricing in the announcement reviewed. Buyers will need to check with the distributor for variant-wise cost and availability.
