JAECOO’s compact electric SUV JAECOO J5 is set to gain a new, more affordable variant in Nepal ahead of the festive season.

According to distributor SPG Automobiles, the upcoming entry version will use a 50.7 kWh battery pack while retaining the same 155 kW front‑wheel‑drive electric motor as the current model.

The J5 first appeared in Nepal at last year’s mobility expo and has since built a strong initial following, often being likened to a mini Range Rover for its styling. Import numbers reached 212 units in under a year before limited global production led to a temporary supply gap.

The existing JAECOO J5 on sale in Nepal comes with a 58.9 kWh battery and the 155 kW motor rated at 288 Nm of torque, and it was originally priced at Rs 60.99 lakh with a launch offer that brought the effective price down to Rs 56.99 lakh (Rs 5.699 million), which later became the official sticker price.

SPG Automobiles has not yet revealed the driving range, feature list or price for the new 50.7 kWh J5. These details are expected closer to its formal introduction, likely timed around the upcoming auto show.
