Hyundai Motor Company is working on a new entry-level electric SUV to expand its electric vehicle lineup in India. The project is currently known by the internal codename HE1i.
During an earnings conference call on October 29, 2026, the company mentioned the model could be named the Ioniq P. It is expected to enter the Indian market in January 2027. The vehicle will be produced at the company's manufacturing facility in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu.
Technical details suggest the SUV will be built on the E-GMP (K) platform. This is the same architecture used for the global Inster EV. The manufacturer plans to offer two battery options to cater to different range requirements. The vehicle will also feature a next-generation infotainment system and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

In the Indian market, the upcoming model will compete against the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV 3XO EV, and Kia Syros EV.

For context, Hyundai currently offers several models in Nepal that sit in similar segments. These include the Grand i10 Nios FL, priced between Rs 33.56 lakh and Rs 41.26 lakh, and the Exter, which ranges from Rs 36.96 lakh to Rs 46.96 lakh. The Venue F/L is available from Rs 48.96 lakh to Rs 67.96 lakh, while the Creta EV is priced between Rs 51.96 lakh and Rs 69.96 lakh.

No official confirmation regarding the name or specific launch details has been provided by Hyundai Motor India. The company has not announced any plans for a Nepal launch.
