Chinese manufacturer Chery has unveiled a new electric vehicle charging system named Volt-Dragon. The system features a peak power output of 1.44 MW.
During its presentation at the Global Innovation Conference in Wuhu, the company stated that the technology can add 500 km of driving range in five minutes. Under specific conditions, it can charge a battery from 10% to 97% in 6 minutes and 50 seconds. The system uses CheryMind technology to manage power delivery based on battery temperature to maintain charging speed while protecting battery health.
Chery has started the initial rollout with 100 charging points across 10 Chinese cities. The company aims to establish 20,000 vehicle-to-grid (V2G) charging stations globally by 2029. V2G technology allows electric vehicles to return electricity to the power grid to help manage peak demand.
This development is currently limited to China, and no information regarding a rollout in Nepal has been announced.
