The Proton eMAS 5, a compact electric hatchback from Malaysian brand Proton, is set to enter the Nepali market with prices starting at Rs 29.99 lakh, according to the latest announcement for Nepal.

According to Proton’s Nepal distributor, the eMAS 5 will be offered in two trims for our market:
- Proton eMAS 5 Prime: Rs 29.99 lakh (announced price)
- Proton eMAS 5 Premium: Rs 34.99 lakh (announced price)
Both are 5-door electric hatchbacks positioned as city-focused EVs that can also handle occasional highway trips.
Battery, motor and range
The eMAS 5 uses CATL LFP (lithium iron phosphate) batteries and a rear-mounted motor driving the rear wheels. Globally published specifications indicate the following configuration, which matches the figures shared for Nepal:
- Prime variant: 30.12 kWh battery, 58 kW motor, 130 Nm torque, claimed 225 km range (WLTP)

Proton says the car supports both AC and DC charging. According to international data, DC fast charging can take the battery from 30% to 80% in around 21 minutes, while a typical home AC wallbox (around 6.6 kW) needs several hours for a full charge. These times may vary slightly depending on local chargers and conditions.
