Proton e.MAS 5 EV bookings begin in Nepal
Jagdamba Motors, the authorised distributor of Proton vehicles in Nepal, has opened bookings for the Proton e.MAS 5 ahead of its official launch in the country. According to the company’s announcement, the e.MAS 5 will be introduced as a compact electric SUV and is planned to be Nepal’s first rear‑wheel‑drive EV in its segment.
"Guess and Book" pricing scheme
Alongside bookings, Jagdamba Motors has started a special campaign called *"Guess and Book the all-new e.MAS 5 at your price"*. Under this scheme, interested buyers can estimate the official launch price of the e.MAS 5 and, if selected, buy the car at the same price they guessed.
- Customers first choose their preferred variant (Prime or Premium) on the company’s designated site.
- Using a price slider, they lock in their estimated market price within a given range.
- For the Prime variant, the estimate range is set between Rs 29.99 lakh and Rs 34.99 lakh.
- For the Premium variant, the range is Rs 34.99 lakh to Rs 39.99 lakh.
According to the announcement, those whose estimates match the final launch price, or are closest to it, will be eligible to purchase the vehicle at their estimated amount. Winners will be chosen through a lucky draw, with five buyers selected from each variant, subject to the scheme’s terms and conditions.
These indicative ranges broadly align with independent expectations that the e.MAS 5 will be priced around Rs 30–40 lakh in Nepal, taking into account its Malaysian pricing and local EV duties.
Booking amount and process
Jagdamba Motors has set a booking amount of Rs 1 lakh for the Proton e.MAS 5. Customers can:
- Pay the booking amount through bank or online payment,
- Submit the payment document to a sales consultant to complete the booking, or
- Upload the payment voucher via the company’s dedicated booking site.
The company has stated that entries made through this booking process will be used as the basis to select the lucky customers under the price‑guess scheme.
Award‑winning compact EV
The Proton e.MAS 5 has been developed and produced through collaboration between Proton and Geely. According to international reports, the model recently received the "Electric Compact Vehicle of the Year 2026" title at Malaysia’s Allianz DSF Vehicle of the Year Awards.
Globally, the e.MAS 5 is offered in Prime and Premium variants, with battery options around 30.12 kWh and 40.16 kWh and WLTP ranges of roughly 225 km and 325 km respectively. In Malaysia it is positioned as an affordable compact EV, and similar positioning is expected for Nepal.
Jagdamba Motors earlier entered Nepal’s EV market with the larger Proton e.MAS 7 SUV, and the e.MAS 5 now aims to provide a more accessible, city‑friendly electric option for Nepali buyers looking for a compact rear‑wheel‑drive EV.
