Driving Licence Verification Now Possible From Abroad
Nepalis living abroad no longer need to send their driving licence papers back home for verification.
The Department of Consular Services under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has started a new service. Nepalis staying abroad can now verify their Nepal-issued driving licences through Nepali embassies and diplomatic missions in their host countries.
Under the new arrangement, the concerned Nepali embassy or mission will accept applications from licence holders. It will then coordinate with offices in Nepal to confirm that the licence was legally issued by the Government of Nepal.
The service mainly targets workers and students who need licence verification for foreign driving tests, conversions or jobs. Earlier, they had to depend on relatives, agents or a trip back to Nepal just to get this done.
Applicants should contact the Nepali mission in their host country for the exact process. Required documents and fees may differ from one mission to another.
