Nepal driver line-up confirmed for 2024 Asia Auto Gymkhana Championship

Nepal has confirmed its driver line-up for this year’s Asia Auto Gymkhana Championship (AAGC) after the Bagmati Auto Gymkhana Championship held in Kathmandu.

Podium finishers and selection

Ashish Bharti “Rony” claimed the overall title at the “Xtreme Energy presents Bagmati Auto Gymkhana Championship powered by Liqui Moly”, organised by Nepal Automobiles Association (NASA Nepal). Rabin Sunuwar “Rehan” finished second, while Varsha Basnet took third place and the best female driver award.

With this result, Rony, Rehan and Varsha are selected to represent Nepal in the AAGC 2024, which will be held across multiple Asian countries this year. In the best timing ranking, Nimesh Thakuri, Kabin Thakuri and Bipasna Tamang have also been placed in the priority list for possible AAGC slots.

Prize money and participation

Champion Rony received Rs 80,000, while Rehan and Varsha earned Rs 40,000 each, along with shields and certificates.

The event took place at Oxford Driving Training Center in Lolang, Tarkeshwor, where 12 drivers from across Nepal, including 2 women, competed.

These same Nepali drivers are also set to get a chance in the FIA-recognised Asia Pacific Motor Sport Championship’s Auto Gymkhana round, scheduled in Thailand later this year.
