NADA Auto Show 2026 begins in Kathmandu
**NADA Auto Show 2026 opens today at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu, marking the start of six days of automotive and mobility displays. The event is presented by HP Lubricants and is organized by the NADA Automobiles Association of Nepal (NADA). This year marks the Golden Jubilee** of the event, celebrating 50 years of contribution to Nepal's automotive sector.
Layout and visitor flow
NADA President Surendra Kumar Upreti announced that more than 215 stalls have been completed, making this year's exhibition wider and more organized compared to previous editions. The organisers have enhanced the venue with improved lighting, air-conditioning, fans, and a wheelchair-friendly layout. The exhibition area is divided into five main zones:
- Four-wheelers
- Two-wheelers
- Banks and financial institutions
- Auto parts and garage equipment
- "Made in Nepal/Made for Nepal" and International Business pavilions
Visitors can first look at vehicles, then move to finance and insurance, and finish at service and parts. This way, buyers can compare total cost and available facilities before deciding on a purchase.
Exhibitors and tickets
A total of 53 vehicle brands are participating, along with 70 parts and service companies and about 11 banks and financial institutions. The auto show was inaugurated by Vice President Ramsahaya Prasad Yadav at 10:30 am on Tuesday. In his speech, Yadav emphasized the need for a stable, transparent, and investment-friendly policy to support the long-term growth of the automotive industry in Nepal.
Entry costs Rs 200 for the general public and Rs 150 for students. Advance tickets can be bought through the Khalti app or by scanning the official QR code.
Parking arrangements
NADA has arranged parking for visitors at two locations to reduce congestion around Bhrikutimandap:
- Underground parking at Nepal Police Club's Blue Pavilion
- National Trading Complex at Singha Durbar
These parking sites are intended to make the show more accessible for city motorists and families. Additionally, the organizers have set up a traffic management information desk, media desk, cafeteria, and emergency medical service at the exhibition venue. CCTV surveillance and fire safety systems have also been installed to ensure visitor safety.
Vision for the future
Vice President Yadav highlighted the potential for Nepal to become a regional hub for automobile technology, services, skills, and production. He urged for continuous dialogue between the government and private sectors to develop policies that balance industry growth, investment security, job creation, and consumer interests.
Additionally, NADA President Upreti called for the construction of an international-standard exhibition center in Kathmandu, noting that current facilities are insufficient for larger displays like trucks and heavy equipment. The focus on electric vehicles and the production of spare parts within Nepal were also emphasized as new opportunities for growth.
