The Korala border point in Mustang is quickly becoming a new gateway for electric vehicle (EV) imports into Nepal.
According to the Mustang Customs Office, 100 electric cars entered Nepal via Korala in the first month of the current fiscal year (Saun), as traders shift some of their EV shipments to this northern route for easier direct movement from China.
Mustang Customs chief Vidur Chudal said the office is now clearing around 10 containers a day on average, showing a sharp rise in commercial activity through this crossing.
Regular imports of vehicles and other goods are also boosting state revenue. In the same Saun period, the Korala office reported collecting about Rs 29 crore in customs revenue.
Korala's role in EV logistics has been building for more than a year. In the last fiscal year alone, over 3,000 EVs were imported through this route, generating around Rs 6.92 billion in revenue.
These figures indicate that Korala is evolving into a key, reliable corridor for Nepal–China trade, especially for EV imports.
