JSW Motors is gearing up to roll out its first passenger vehicle in India, a plug-in hybrid SUV based on the Jetour T2 that is expected to be sold as the JSW Combat around the festive season.
Price and positioning
In India, the Combat is being rumoured in the Rs 30–50 lakh band, ex-showroom, which translates to roughly Rs 48–80 lakh for Nepali buyers tracking possible future imports. It is set to go up against premium crossovers such as the Honda ZR-V.
Design and features
The Combat will use a monocoque chassis and keep the Jetour T2’s square, off-road-style body. Key cabin kit expected includes:
- 15.6-inch touchscreen
- 10.6-inch digital instrument cluster
- wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
- 540-degree camera setup
- ventilated front seats
- adaptive cruise control
Powertrain and range
India-spec Combat will get a 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine with a plug-in hybrid system, using two electric motors and an 18.4 kWh battery. Claimed electric-only range is about 90 km (NEDC), with petrol backing it up for longer trips.
What it means for Nepal
The Jetour T2 is already on sale in several overseas markets, and JSW’s Combat will mark its entry into India with this Chery-based product. In Nepal, Jetour is nearing its official launch, with Laxmi Motorhub named as the authorised distributor. Nepal pricing and launch dates for the T2 or any JSW-branded version have not been confirmed.
For Nepali buyers watching future hybrid SUVs, the Combat’s spec sheet suggests a feature-rich, long-range option if and when it is considered for our market. Verdict: for now, this is an India-focused plug-in hybrid to watch closely from Nepal, rather than plan a purchase around.
