Kathmandu – Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle stopped by the Sipradi Yatri factory in Budhanilkantha this week, and the Yatri P2, a Nepal-designed and made electric scooter, caught his attention right away.

Wagle watched the Yatri P2 production process up close. He praised the work of Nepali engineers and designers and urged them to aim for global-level quality and competitiveness. The government will support the project so the scooter can compete in international markets, he said. He also called for a stronger environment to manufacture more Nepali products inside the country.

Yatri's founder and CEO Asim Pandey briefed the minister on the scooter's design, safety testing, components and test findings during the visit. Sipradi Trading CEO Rajanbabu Shrestha spoke about why designing and producing electric two-wheelers in Nepal matters. The scooter has already been tested in challenging hill and Himalayan terrain, he noted.

Company officials say the Yatri P2 uses a DC charger integrated into a locally built electric scooter. They call it a first-of-its-kind achievement globally. Technical specifications and price are not yet public. Nepal pricing remains unconfirmed.

Public debut at NADA Auto Show 2026

The Yatri P2 will be unveiled to the public at the HP Presents NADA Auto Show 2026, running Bhadra 9 to 14 (August 25–30, 2026) at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu. That will be Nepali buyers' first close look at the homegrown electric scooter.
