BYD has introduced the Yangwang U8L Snowcrest Edition, a four-seat luxury SUV under its premium Yangwang sub-brand for the Chinese market. According to the announcement, it is priced at 1.8 million yuan, or about Rs 3.46 crore, at current exchange rates.
What makes it stand out
The U8L Snowcrest Edition is positioned as BYD’s most luxurious model so far. It carries a silver-and-gold exterior theme, and the front badge is made from real gold. The SUV is fitted with LiDAR sensors.
Inside, the U8L is set up like a chauffeur-driven luxury SUV. The second row has two separate captain seats, each with power leg support, integrated headrest speakers, folding tables, and a panoramic roof. The cabin also includes a touchscreen, a fridge, and a large center tunnel with storage sections. Snow-themed design elements are carved into the seats, doors, and trim.
Powertrain and performance
The SUV measures 5.4 metres in length and uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine along with a 56.58 kWh Blade 2.0 battery. It has four electric motors, one for each wheel, producing a combined 880 kW, or 1,180 hp.
BYD says the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and deliver a 1,000 km total driving range. It also comes with DiSus-P hydraulic suspension and carbon-ceramic brakes.
What it means for Nepal
This is a China-market premium debut, not a Nepal launch, so there is no confirmed price, distributor, or booking details for Nepali buyers yet. For now, it mainly shows how far BYD’s luxury EV technology has moved at the top end of the market.
