Why this matters for Nepal
Nepal does not buy cars in the same volumes as China or India. Even so, both markets shape what eventually reaches Nepali showrooms. A stronger BYD export pipeline matters here because right-hand-drive, battery-electric models from China often arrive in Nepal after being tested in larger regional markets.
If BYD keeps scaling overseas output, Nepali buyers may see more model choices, steadier stock, and sharper pricing pressure from Chinese EV rivals already present in the market.

What BYD is selling now
BYD’s core Auto brand sold 350,178 units in July, while the Fang Cheng Bao off-road sub-brand reached a monthly record of 41,213 units. For Nepali car buyers, the signal is not a direct price cut today. It is a better chance that BYD-backed EVs stay central to the region’s import mix.
If export growth continues, entry-level BYD EVs could become more competitive against Indian and Chinese rivals in Nepal’s Rs 40 lakh to Rs 80 lakh EV bracket, depending on customs, battery size, and dealer margin.
