BYD is expanding its charging infrastructure throughout Europe. The company aims to install 100 flash chargers by the end of 2026, followed by 3,000 units by the end of 2027.
These chargers provide up to 1,500 kilowatts of single-gun DC power. This technology allows vehicles equipped with second-generation blade batteries to charge from 10 percent to 70 percent in 5 minutes. A charge from 10 percent to 97 percent takes 9 minutes.
BYD currently operates over 12,000 flash chargers in China. The company plans to have 20,000 charging stations installed globally by the end of 2026. Initial installations have already occurred in Germany and the United Kingdom.
Currently, the Denza Z9 GT station wagon is the only BYD-manufactured vehicle in Europe with this flash charging capability. The company intends to launch the Atto 8, a seven-seater electric SUV, in the European market during the first quarter of 2027. This model will be the first BYD vehicle in the region to feature this charging technology.
