BYD’s premium sub-brand **Denza has moved closer to launching its new all-electric sedan, the Z9S**, after the car appeared in China’s latest vehicle regulatory filing. The documents highlight a large, high-performance EV, expected to reach the market soon. The Z9S is positioned as a premium model, similar in size to the Xiaomi SU7.
What the filing shows
The Denza Z9S is listed at 5,090 mm long, 1,980 mm wide, and 1,490 mm high, with a 3,025 mm wheelbase. It is 145 mm shorter, 10 mm narrower, and 28 mm lower than the Denza Z9 sedan, with a 100 mm shorter wheelbase. This positions it toward the upper end of the electric sedan class, larger than many mass-market EVs.
Two powertrain configurations are included in the filing: - A rear-wheel-drive single-motor version with 320 kW and 370 kW outputs, paired with a 102.326 kWh battery pack. - An e³ tri-motor four-wheel-drive version producing a combined output of 890 kW (1,194 hp), using the same battery pack.
The higher-output single-motor version offers a CLTC range of 920 km, while the tri-motor version has a CLTC range of 780 km. Both versions use LFP batteries and have a top speed of 250 km/h. The filing mentions optional features such as an electric spoiler, different mirrors, and alternative door-handle designs.
