Denza, the premium EV brand under BYD, has filed the all-electric N8 SUV in China, reviving a name that briefly appeared on a plug-in hybrid model in 2023 before it was discontinued. The new N8 is expected to launch in China later this year as a large five-seat luxury SUV using BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery and fast-charging tech.
For Nepali buyers, the key change is that Denza is no longer a China-only brand. Denza Nepal has already publicly marked its arrival here with the D9, B5 and B8, so the N8 now looks like a realistic future candidate for the premium EV segment. If it comes to Nepal, it would likely sit above mainstream Chinese SUVs and aim at customers wanting a bigger, more powerful electric family SUV.
According to the Chinese filing, the N8 measures 5,150 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width and 1,820 mm in height, with a 3,075 mm wheelbase. It will be sold in rear-wheel-drive and tri-motor all-wheel-drive versions. The top AWD variant is listed at up to 890 kW, far beyond what most Nepal-bound SUVs offer today.
Denza is also claiming ultra-fast charging, with a 5-minute quick charge and a 9-minute full charge under ideal conditions. If that level of charging performance is carried over to export markets, it could be significant in Nepal, where public fast-charging coverage is still patchy and range confidence remains a major concern for EV buyers.
The earlier N8 hybrid did not perform well in China. The plug-in hybrid version launched in August 2023 at 319,800 yuan, which comes to about Rs 63.8 lakh at roughly Rs 199 per yuan, but it was soon discontinued after weak sales. That figure is only a China reference price; any Nepal pricing would be much higher once duties, logistics and dealer margins are added.
For now, there is no confirmed Nepal launch date for the new all-electric N8. With Denza already present in the market, though, it is a model that premium EV shoppers and import-focused buyers will be watching closely.
