Audi A2 e-tron revealed as brand’s most efficient EV yet

Audi has introduced the A2 e-tron as its new entry-level electric car, reviving the A2 name more than 25 years after the original.

Range, efficiency and powertrain

• The A2 e-tron is claimed to offer up to 646 km WLTP range, depending on battery and motor combination.
• Audi quotes energy consumption from 12.8 kWh/100 km (WLTP), making it the most efficient series-production Audi so far.
• Aerodynamics are a key focus, with a drag coefficient of 0.24 helping the 140 kW variant achieve the 646 km range figure.
• Four motor outputs will be offered: 125 kW, 140 kW, 170 kW and 240 kW.
• Three battery sizes will be available: 52 kWh, 61 kWh and 84 kWh.

Charging and bidirectional capability

• Despite being Audi’s entry point into EVs, the A2 e-tron includes bidirectional charging, allowing it to power external devices via Vehicle-to-Load (V2L).
• The 84 kWh battery supports DC fast charging up to 183 kW, with a claimed 10–80% charge in about 29 minutes under specified conditions.
• The 52 kWh LFP battery can charge at up to 100 kW, taking around 14 minutes for the defined 10–80% window.
• The 61 kWh battery supports up to 105 kW DC charging and is quoted at around 25 minutes for 10–80%.

Size and interior

• The A2 e-tron measures 4.32 metres in length and 1.79 metres in width, with a 2.77-metre wheelbase.
• In footprint, it is close to the **Kia EV3 and Volkswagen ID.3 Neo**, positioning it among compact electric hatchbacks.
• Audi has aimed to make the cabin feel airy and practical, with smart storage solutions and premium features.
• It is the first luxury model to offer the Fidlock magnetic fastening system as standard, for flexible attachment of accessories inside the cabin.
• An optional panoramic glass roof with 1.6 square metres of glass is available.

Safety and driver assistance

Standard driver-assistance equipment includes: - Emergency brake assist - Swerve assist - Attention assist - Adaptive cruise control - Parking system plus - Reversing camera

Production and pricing

• The A2 e-tron will be built at Audi’s Ingolstadt plant in Germany.
• European pricing starts at about USD 45,000 (roughly Rs 60 lakh), with higher variants ranging from USD 49,400 (around Rs 66 lakh) to USD 60,400 (around Rs 81 lakh), based on current exchange rates.
• Deliveries in Europe are planned to begin from the end of 2026, but Nepal launch plans and local pricing have not been announced.

For Nepali buyers, the A2 e-tron is an important benchmark: compact size similar to the Kia EV3 and VW ID.3 Neo, up to 646 km claimed range, 12.8 kWh/100 km efficiency and fast bidirectional charging, all of which signal what future premium compact EVs could offer when they eventually reach our market.
