What the design filing shows
The most important clue is the drivetrain: unlike Yamaha’s Aerox-E, this scooter appears to use a centrally mounted motor with belt drive to the rear wheel. The battery sits under the seat, and the design suggests it may be swappable, although Yamaha has not confirmed that detail. The scooter also appears to get twin rear shocks, disc brakes at both ends, a telescopic fork, a single-piece seat, a TFT display, and what looks like keyless access.

If Yamaha positions this as a 125cc-equivalent electric scooter, it could sit below the more premium scooters in Nepal and offer a cleaner entry point for buyers looking to move from petrol to electric. That is important because Yamaha already has a strong local footprint through the RayZR 125 Hybrid, which starts at Rs 2.79 lakh in Nepal, and the larger Aerox 155, which is priced around Rs 4.75 lakh.
For Nepalese buyers, a Yamaha EV arriving in this class would likely be judged against other imported electric scooters on range, battery type, charging time and final price, not just brand name. Yamaha’s current India-market EV direction also suggests the company is testing different electric strategies in the region, which keeps a future Nepal launch plausible but still unconfirmed.
