TVS and Bajaj now dominate electric two-wheeler sales in India

Latest August 2026 vehicle registration data from India shows **TVS and Bajaj together holding 50.3% of the electric two-wheeler market**, giving traditional brands a clear lead over early EV startups.

In that month, a total of 1,46,770 electric two-wheelers were registered across India. TVS accounted for 40,349 units and a 27.5% share, while Bajaj followed with 33,422 units and a 22.8% share.

Startups lose ground in the rankings

Among newer EV-focused players, **Ather Energy reached 23,542 units for a 16% share, securing a strong third position. Hero Vida registered 14,388 units, taking around 9.8% of the market**.

Once the clear leader, Ola Electric has fallen to 10,400 units and a 7.1% share, down sharply from about 35% market share two years ago.

Why mainstream brands are winning

Electric scooters are now reaching everyday buyers, and Indian customers are giving more weight to brand reliability, nationwide dealer and service networks, battery safety, easy maintenance, and after-sales support. With decades of experience and infrastructure, TVS and Bajaj are using their existing networks to strengthen their hold on the EV segment, a trend Nepali buyers should watch closely as these brands expand electric offerings in our market too.
