Syakar Trading Company, the authorised distributor of Honda cars in Nepal, has started a free airbag safety recall campaign for a range of older Honda models sold in the country. The company says the campaign is meant to reduce possible airbag-related safety risks and protect customers using vehicles that are now more than a decade old.

Which Honda cars are affected?

The recall covers selected Honda passenger cars manufactured between 2001 and 2014. According to the announcement, the following models are included:

  • Honda City (approx. 2001–2014)
  • Honda Civic (approx. 2003–2012)
  • Honda CR-V (approx. early 2000s to early 2010s)
  • Honda Jazz (approx. 2009–2012)
  • Honda Insight
  • Honda Stream
  • Honda Accord (approx. early 2000s to early 2010s)

These model years broadly match Honda’s global and regional campaigns to replace potentially faulty airbag inflators supplied by Takata. The same issue has already led to voluntary recalls in markets such as India, Thailand, the US and others.

What work will be done on your car?

Under this campaign, Syakar Trading will:

  • Inspect the airbag system in affected vehicles
  • Carry out necessary repairs or replace the airbag inflator where required
  • Provide all related parts and labour completely free of cost to the customer

Honda’s global recall policy states that replacement of affected airbag inflators at authorised dealerships is done without any charges to owners, and the Nepal campaign is being run on the same terms.

How to check if your Honda is included

Owners do not need to guess whether their vehicle is part of the recall. Syakar Trading says customers can:

  • Visit Honda’s official website and enter their vehicle details (such as VIN/chassis number) to check recall status
  • Or contact the nearest authorised Honda service centre in Nepal for assistance

If the car is listed as affected, the owner should book a service appointment so the airbag can be checked and repaired.

What Honda owners in Nepal should do now

Airbags are critical for reducing injury in a crash, but in rare cases defective inflators can malfunction. To stay safe:

  • If you drive an older Honda model from 2001–2014, contact an authorised Honda service centre as soon as possible
  • Ask the workshop to confirm your car’s recall status and arrange an inspection
  • Make sure the airbag work is recorded in your service history once completed

For Nepali Honda buyers and long-time owners, this is an important chance to keep older cars safer at no extra cost. All inspection and replacement under this campaign is free, so there is no financial reason to delay the airbag check.
