Honda’s City and Skoda’s Slavia are among the more relevant midsize sedans for Nepali buyers because both are sold in Nepal, and both are typically brought in through India-linked supply chains. A recent Autocar India test compared the petrol automatic versions and found that the Honda City CVT delivered better real-world mileage than both Slavia turbo-petrol automatics, which is important in a market where fuel cost is a major ownership factor.
What the test found
- Honda City 1.5 petrol CVT: better efficiency in city use and on the highway than the Slavia 1.0 TSI AT and 1.5 TSI DCT in Autocar’s real-world loop. - **Skoda Slavia 1.0 TSI automatic: lower mileage than the City, but still offers a turbocharged engine and a torque-converter automatic. - Skoda Slavia 1.5 TSI DCT**: stronger performance and cylinder-deactivation tech, but it still trailed the City in overall fuel economy.

Autocar’s figures show the City ahead by 1.5 kpl in urban driving and 3 kpl on the highway versus the Slavia 1.0 TSI AT, while the Slavia 1.5 TSI DCT remained behind the Honda on average efficiency as well.
Nepal angle: why this matters
Honda already offers the 5th-gen City in Nepal, with local listings showing prices starting around Rs 53.90 lakh for petrol variants and climbing to Rs 69.90 lakh for higher CVT trims in earlier dealer-reported pricing. Separately, the City e:HEV hybrid has been launched in Nepal at Rs 90.40 lakh to Rs 97.30 lakh, which shows Honda is positioning the sedan above the regular petrol car in value and technology terms.

Skoda Slavia pricing in Nepal is less consistently public across sources, but the model is present in the market and competes directly with the City in the same sedan segment. For Nepali buyers, the takeaway is practical: the Honda City may be the lower-fuel-cost choice, while the Slavia may appeal more to buyers who want turbo-petrol punch and automatic choices.
For shoppers comparing ownership costs, the difference in mileage could matter more than the headline engine specs, especially if the car will be used daily in city traffic and on long hill-to-highway trips.
