The market for small, affordable electric vehicles in Nepal is losing momentum. Import data from January 1, 2026, to October 15, 2026, shows a total of 313 units imported across the segment.
Kaiyi leads the category with 171 units of the e-Qute 02 and e-Qute 04. These models represent 55 percent of the total small EV imports for the period.

Other notable import figures include:
- MG Comet: 56 units (18 percent share)
- BAW Brumby: 24 units (8 percent share)
- Henry: 20 units
- Jinpeng Lingbox EC01: 12 units
- Ennui: 24 units (combined with other small EVs)
Regarding the MG Comet, it is currently available in Nepal with an ex-showroom price ranging from Rs 18.75 lakh to Rs 21.50 lakh. It sits below the brand's other offerings, such as the MG MG4, which starts at Rs 41.49 lakh, and the MG ZS EV, which starts at Rs 48.49 lakh.

While the broader passenger vehicle market in Nepal has seen electric vehicles surpass a 75 percent share, this growth has not extended to the small EV segment. Several models that were previously present in the market recorded zero imports during 2026. The BAW Brumby and Jinpeng Lingbox EC01 are currently announced but are not yet on sale in Nepal.

Small electric vehicles are currently failing to capture the same buyer interest as larger electric models in the country.
Our own record on this
Kaiyi e-Qute 02 EV: 1 · MG Comet: 2. Each is a dated change we applied to a published ex-showroom price after checking it. A logged change may be a distributor's revision or our own correction coming into line with the official figure — the log says which way each one moved, and when, not why.
