JSW MG Motor India has announced exclusive Couture Editions of the MG M9 and Cyberster, positioned as ultra-luxury electric vehicles in its portfolio for the Indian market. According to the company’s announcement, the MG M9 Couture Edition is priced at about Rs 84.94 lakh and the Cyberster Couture Edition at around Rs 87.49 lakh (ex-showroom India), placing them firmly in the high-end luxury EV segment.
What’s new in these Couture Editions
The two models are part of the MG SELECT sub-brand and have been developed in collaboration with Indian fashion designer Gaurav Gupta. According to the launch announcement, the cars feature:
- Exclusive exterior and interior detailing inspired by Gupta’s couture work
- The designer’s signature *Serpent Infinity* motif integrated through hand-finished accents and tonal design elements
- Strictly limited production — 50 units each for the M9 and Cyberster, sold only via MG SELECT Experience Centres in select Indian cities
Deliveries in India are stated to begin from 10 August 2026, with bookings already open through MG’s dedicated MG SELECT outlets and official online channels.
Nepal angle: MG’s EV push matters, but these units won’t
MG already has a presence in Nepal with models such as the MG ZS EV and some ICE SUVs, imported mainly from India and China through local distributors. The brand’s focus on premium and performance EVs in India strengthens its broader electric portfolio, which could eventually influence the types of MG EVs offered in Nepal in coming years.
However, these particular Couture Editions are extremely niche and limited to 50 units each, targeted at Indian luxury buyers and collectors. Given the small production run, ultra-high pricing and India-only retail through MG SELECT Experience Centres, there is currently no indication that the M9 or Cyberster Couture Editions are being allocated or homologated for Nepal.
For Nepali buyers, the practical takeaway is indirect:
- MG’s strong EV sales performance in India (with EVs forming a large majority of its recent dispatches) signals that the brand is likely to keep expanding its electric line-up in the region.
- That regional momentum increases the chances of more mainstream MG EVs — not necessarily these couture specials — being considered for Nepal by local importers.
In short, MG M9 and Cyberster Couture Editions remain India-only halo products for now, but they reinforce MG’s EV ambitions in the neighborhood markets from which Nepal sources many of its vehicles. Nepali buyers should watch how MG’s wider EV portfolio evolves in India and China, rather than expect these particular limited-run Couture units to appear in local showrooms.
