Mahindra XUV 3XO could widen the compact-SUV fight in Nepal

Mahindra’s XUV 3XO has emerged in India as a higher-output replacement for the XUV300, with stronger turbo-petrol and diesel engines and a feature-rich top end. For Nepal, it is relevant mainly as a possible next-step option above the XUV300, if Mahindra decides to expand the line-up here.

Mahindra’s **XUV 3XO** is the compact SUV to watch in India, but in Nepal it is still only a possible future addition. The model was introduced in 2024 as the replacement for the XUV300, and the India-market version is positioned around ₹7.79 lakh to ₹15.04 lakh, while Nepal pricing and a local launch have not been confirmed.

Where it fits in Mahindra Nepal’s line-up

In Nepal, the closest Mahindra model already on sale is the XUV300 at Rs 49.95 lakh. The XUV 3XO would sit above that nameplate if it arrives, and would also be a lower-priced alternative to the **Bolero Neo at Rs 52.50 lakh, while staying well below the Be 6 at Rs 57 lakh–Rs 68 lakh, Scorpio at Rs 66 lakh and XEV 9e at Rs 69 lakh–Rs 95 lakh**.

Why buyers would notice it

The India-spec XUV 3XO offers three engine choices: a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol with 111hp and 200Nm, a 1.2-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol with 131hp and 230Nm, and a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel with 117hp and 300Nm. The turbo-petrol and diesel outputs are the strongest in their respective Indian sub-segments, and the higher-output petrol is paired with either a manual or a 6-speed torque-converter automatic, while the diesel also gets a 6-speed AMT.

The feature list is a major part of the appeal. Higher variants bring dual 10.25-inch screens, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, a 7-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, connected-car functions, a wireless charger and level 2 ADAS with a 360-degree camera and blind-spot detection.

The practical trade-off

The main drawback is boot space. The XUV 3XO’s luggage area measures 295 litres, which is the smallest among its key rivals, and the high loading lip can make it less convenient for carrying larger bags.

Another caution is price at the top end. In India, the priciest trims reach ₹15.04 lakh, which pushes the XUV 3XO into territory where some buyers may cross-shop larger SUVs instead of a fully loaded compact model.

For Nepali buyers, the takeaway is simple: if Mahindra brings the XUV 3XO here, it could become a more modern and better-equipped successor-style option to the XUV300, but it would need to be priced carefully to avoid overlapping too closely with Mahindra’s bigger SUVs.
