Leapmotor pushes premium EV tech into a lower price bracket

Chinese EV maker Leapmotor has unveiled refreshed versions of the B10 SUV and B01 sedan with an 800V silicon-carbide high-voltage platform, according to the company announcement reported by Chinese auto media. 800V systems are usually seen in more expensive electric vehicles, so this is a notable move into a lower price band.

The announcement came on 16 July 2026. The company said the updated B10 starts at 14,700 US dollars while the B01 starts at 14,100 US dollars. Using an approximate exchange rate of 1 US dollar = Rs 134, that works out to about Rs 19.7 lakh for the B10 and Rs 18.9 lakh for the B01 at factory level, before taxes and local market costs.

What is new in the updated models?

According to the announcement, both models come with:

  • 800V silicon-carbide high-voltage architecture
  • Qualcomm 8650 intelligent driving chip
  • LiDAR sensors on all variants

On paper, that gives these cars stronger charging and driver-assistance hardware than is common at this price point.

Why this matters for Nepal

The current Leapmotor B10 is already sold in Nepal through the local market. Nepal AutoMart has earlier reported that the B10 is available in the country in the Rs 55 lakh range, depending on variant and offers. If the refreshed version arrives here with similar equipment, it could land in a more competitive space against other mid-size electric SUVs.

For Nepali buyers, the main takeaway is simple. An affordable EV with 800V technology could improve charging speed and appeal, especially for buyers comparing range, tech, and ownership value.

Leapmotor has also claimed that competitors will struggle to match this mix of technology and pricing quickly. That claim is from the company side, and the real test will be how the updated models are priced and equipped in export markets such as Nepal.

At this stage, Leapmotor has not confirmed a Nepal launch date for the refreshed versions. Any local availability remains a market expectation rather than an official announcement.
