KATHMANDU: Nepali actor and producer Keki Adhikari says her Proton e.MAS 7 has been a satisfying ownership experience, mainly because of its comfort, premium cabin feel, and lower running cost.

Adhikari said she has been using the electric SUV for nearly a year, mostly for daily travel inside the Kathmandu Valley and for film-related work. She also uses it for occasional trips outside the city, including to Kavre.

Why she switched to an EV

Adhikari said moving from a petrol car to an EV has reduced her fuel expenses sharply. She described the e.MAS 7 as a practical choice for her regular commute because she no longer needs to worry about petrol bills as much as before.

For buyers comparing EVs in Nepal, the e.MAS 7 is sold in two variants: Prime and Premium. Published Nepal-market listings put the price at Rs 46.99 lakh for the Prime and Rs 67.99 lakh for the Premium, while another updated listing places the starting price at Rs 56.99 lakh. The model is reported with a 160 kW motor, 320 Nm torque, a 49.52 kWh battery on the Prime, and up to 410 km claimed range on the Premium, depending on variant.

Space is a major advantage

She said the SUV’s size has helped during shoots because it can serve in places where a separate van might otherwise be needed. The e.MAS 7 is reported to offer 461 litres of boot space, expandable to 1,877 litres with the rear seats folded. That makes it more useful for family and work use than a smaller EV.

Driver-seat habit that changed

Adhikari made another comment that many drivers will recognise: she now prefers the rear seat when someone else is driving. According to her, once a person learns to drive, it becomes difficult to stay relaxed in the front passenger seat because every brake and turn feels noticeable.

Her view on Nepal’s EV ownership experience

She said the biggest gap in Nepal’s EV market is after-sales service. In her view, brands need stronger service networks and better customer support after delivery, especially as more buyers move to electric vehicles.

For Nepal’s car buyers, her comments point to the e.MAS 7 as a family-sized electric SUV with good space, low operating cost, and a premium cabin. They also highlight that long-term ownership depends heavily on service quality as much as on the product itself.
