Jetour’s T2 mid-size SUV is set to enter the Nepali market soon, with local distributor Laxmi Group working to bring in the brand’s boxy, off-road-focused model.

Brand and positioning

Jetour is a relatively new Chinese SUV specialist under Chery Holding Group. It was launched globally in 2018 and focuses on lifestyle and adventure vehicles rather than soft crossovers.

According to international data, the **Jetour T2 has been on sale since 2023** in China as a mid-size SUV placed above typical compact SUVs.

For Nepal, the T2 is expected to appeal to buyers looking for a practical family vehicle that can also cope with rough roads and light off-roading.

Size and space

Official global specifications show the Jetour T2 measuring 4,785 mm long, 2,006 mm wide and 1,875 mm tall, with a 2,800 mm wheelbase.

It is a 5-seater SUV with around 580 liters of boot space. That should make it useful for highway trips and luggage.

Engines and drivetrain (global)

Internationally, the T2 is offered with:

  • 1.5-litre turbo petrol, including a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version with electric assistance
  • 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine
  • Automatic transmission only
  • Choice of front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD/4WD), depending on market

In some markets, the plug-in hybrid T2 uses a 1.5-litre turbo petrol with about 154 hp and 220 Nm, paired with a battery of around 26–27 kWh, and dual-motor setups making over 220 hp and up to 390 Nm.

Jetour Nepal has not disclosed which engine and drivetrain will be offered locally. An AWD variant is strongly expected because of Nepal’s mixed road conditions.

Key off-road and safety tech

The T2 is built with off-road use in mind. Global models feature:

  • A large, upright glass area for good visibility
  • 360-degree camera and *transparent chassis* view to see obstacles under the vehicle
  • Depending on variant, an intelligent 4WD system co-developed with BorgWarner on newer models

Safety equipment in overseas versions can include:

  • Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB)
  • Adaptive Cruise Control and Traffic Jam Assist
  • Lane Keeping Assist
  • Front and rear parking sensors
  • 360-degree camera
  • Six airbags and electronic stability control

Exterior and interior features

Design-wise, the T2 uses a boxy, rugged profile with:

  • Full-LED headlamps and connected LED tail lamps
  • 20-inch alloy wheels on higher trims
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Power-folding door mirrors

Inside, global-spec cars are built around a 15.6-inch central touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.

Higher variants offer a 12-speaker Sony audio system. The cabin gets a more premium feel.

Comfort and convenience equipment can include:

  • Wireless Apple CarPlay (Android Auto support may vary by market)
  • Dual-zone automatic climate control
  • Power-adjustable front seats with memory, heating and ventilation
  • Push-button start/stop
  • Ambient lighting and wireless phone charging on some trims

Expected price and launch in Nepal

As of now, Jetour Nepal has not officially announced the T2’s price or launch date.

A generic international listing estimates the Jetour T2 i-DM hybrid around Rs 63.4 lakh in Nepal-equivalent pricing. This is not an official Nepali ex-showroom price and should be treated as an indicative reference only.

Local pricing will depend on which engine, drivetrain and feature package Jetour chooses for Nepal, along with import duties.

Given its engine size, advanced safety tech and large feature list, the T2 is likely to sit in the upper end of the mid-size SUV segment in Nepal. It will compete with other premium lifestyle SUVs.

What Nepali buyers should watch for

For Nepali customers, the most important details to confirm at launch will be:

  • Exact variant offered (engine, FWD vs AWD, petrol vs hybrid)
  • Official Nepal price in Rs lakh and warranty package
  • Availability of ADAS safety features like AEB and lane-keeping
  • Off-road hardware (ground clearance, approach/departure angles, wading depth)

Based on the global specification, the Jetour T2 brings rugged design, strong safety features and a feature-rich cabin. It is positioned as a serious option for buyers seeking a capable SUV for both city and highway use in Nepal.
