Hyundai Ioniq P Electric SUV Could Debut in India in January 2027

Hyundai is developing a new compact electric SUV for the Indian market, which is expected to be named the Ioniq P. The company referenced this model during its third-quarter 2026 earnings call on October 29, though an official name confirmation is still pending.

Internally known by the codename HE1i, the vehicle is designed to be the most affordable electric SUV in the brand's lineup. It will be manufactured at the company's facility in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu. While the manufacturer previously aimed for a late 2026 release, the debut is now expected in January 2027.

The SUV will be built on the E-GMP (K) platform. It is anticipated to offer two battery pack options, similar to the international-market Inster EV, which features 42kWh and 49kWh capacities. Expected features include a next-generation infotainment system and Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

This model is intended to compete in the growing mass-market electric segment in India, targeting rivals such as the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV.
