Hyundai has officially launched its new flagship electric SUV, the Ioniq 9, in Nepal at the NAIIMA Nepal Mobility Expo. The Ioniq 9 is positioned as Hyundai’s most premium EV offering in the country, with a starting price of Rs 21.996 million, as announced by Laxmi Intercontinental Pvt. Ltd., the authorized distributor of Hyundai in Nepal.
The Ioniq 9 is a 7-seater, three-row SUV built on Hyundai’s E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform). It features an 800-volt electrical architecture, which supports ultra-fast charging and efficient power delivery. The SUV is equipped with a 110.3 kWh battery, allowing it to charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 24 minutes using a 350 kW DC fast charger. The claimed WLTP range is 620 km, and it offers a motor output of 160 kW and 350 Nm.

The cabin is equipped with a 14-speaker sound system, head-up display, wireless charging, 100W USB-C ports across all rows, double-laminated soundproof glass, and a bezel-less electronic rear-view mirror.
Safety and ownership
Hyundai emphasizes safety with 10 airbags, a blind-spot view monitor, and a surround-view monitor. The battery comes with an 8-year or 160,000 km warranty. For Nepali buyers, the Ioniq 9 signals Hyundai’s intent to move beyond mainstream EVs and offer a more luxurious option in the imported premium segment.
The Ioniq 9 is available with both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations in international markets, with the dual-motor AWD setup providing stronger acceleration and higher torque. The design follows Hyundai's Aerosthetic design philosophy, featuring an aerodynamic body, pixel-style LED lighting, and a closed-off front grille.
The interior is enhanced with dual panoramic displays, a digital cockpit, premium materials, and comfort-focused seats. Other features include multi-zone climate control, over-the-air (OTA) software updates, a digital key, advanced driver assistance systems, and a 360-degree camera.
