Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has confirmed plans to expand its annual two-wheeler production capacity to 80 lakh units by 2028. The company currently produces 62.5 lakh units across its four manufacturing facilities in India.
President and CEO Tsutsumu Otani stated that the expansion is designed to meet rising demand in both the local market and international regions. The company is focusing on exports to Europe, Africa, and the Americas. To support this growth, Honda is investing in new production lines, including a third line at its Tapukara plant in Rajasthan, which is expected to be operational by 2028.
This strategic move aims to strengthen India's position as a global production hub for the brand. The increased capacity will accommodate both internal combustion engine models and future electric two-wheelers. The company expects this expansion to create over 3,800 new jobs in the country.
