Chinese brand Great Wall Motor (GWM) is pushing deeper into Nepal’s electrified SUV space, with its distributor VG Impex now offering multiple EV, hybrid and plug-in hybrid options.
EV line-up: ORA 03, ORA 5, Jolion Max EV
- ORA 03: 47.78 kWh battery, 99 kW motor, up to 400 km range (NEDC) ORA 03 remains GWM’s entry electric model in Nepal. It uses a 47.78 kWh LFP battery and a 99 kW motor delivering 210 Nm of torque. The claimed driving range is up to 400 km on the NEDC test cycle. It was first launched at Rs 47.49 lakh, and recent repositioning has moved it closer to the around Rs 40 lakh bracket, targeting more budget-conscious EV buyers.
- ORA 5: 58.3 kWh battery, 100 kW motor, up to 520 km claimed range The new ORA 5 takes GWM into the compact electric SUV segment. It comes with a 58.3 kWh battery and a 100 kW electric motor, with a claimed range of up to 520 km, depending on variant and test cycle. Ground clearance stands at 200 mm, and the model includes advanced safety and driver-assistance features. In Nepal it is available in two variants, introduced at Rs 46.99 lakh for the standard and Rs 51.99 lakh for the Pro, placing it squarely in the Rs 50 lakh EV SUV band.

- **HAVAL Jolion Max EV: 58.3 kWh battery, 150 kW motor GWM has also added the HAVAL Jolion Max EV, using the same 58.3 kWh battery but a stronger 150 kW motor. This gives it a clear performance edge over the ORA 5 and positions it as a larger, more powerful electric SUV** for buyers looking beyond entry and mid-range EVs.
Hybrid and plug-in hybrid: TANK 300, TANK 500

- TANK 300 hybrid: 2.0L turbo petrol, 9-speed auto, 351 PS, 648 Nm, Rs 159.99 lakh GWM’s premium TANK brand is already on sale in Nepal. The TANK 300 is a hybrid SUV using a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with a 9-speed automatic gearbox. Output stands at 351 PS and 648 Nm, and it is priced at Rs 159.99 lakh.
- TANK 500 plug-in hybrid: 2.0L turbo petrol, 9-speed auto, 408 PS, 750 Nm, Rs 215.99 lakh The larger TANK 500 steps up to a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) setup, again with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine and 9-speed automatic. Here, combined output climbs to 408 PS and 750 Nm, with Nepal pricing at Rs 215.99 lakh.
Upcoming HAVAL H7
GWM is also preparing to bring in the HAVAL H7, an SUV that internationally offers electrified powertrains, including a plug-in hybrid version. The PHEV setup pairs a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine with dual electric motors and all-wheel drive. Nepal pricing and exact launch timing have not yet been announced.
What this means for Nepali buyers

With the ORA 03 aimed at lower-priced EV buyers, the ORA 5 and Jolion Max EV addressing the compact electric SUV segment, and the TANK 300/500 covering premium hybrid and PHEV territory, GWM is no longer tied to a single powertrain or customer band in Nepal. The electrified HAVAL H7 is expected to further widen choices once it arrives, giving buyers a broader spread from affordable EVs to high-power plug-in hybrid SUVs.
