Canadian electric mobility company ENVO Drive Systems has announced a new Utility Personal Transporter (UPT) platform. It can be turned into many different light-duty electric vehicles instead of buying separate machines for each job.
What is the UPT?
UPT is a modular electric vehicle platform built around a common chassis.
- According to ENVO, a single UPT base can be configured into up to 18 different vehicle types.
- Target uses include cargo movement, industrial sites, farms, resorts, campuses and recreation, according to the announcement.
For Nepali buyers, this idea is similar to having one electric base vehicle that can be reconfigured as a golf cart, small pickup-style hauler, airport trolley or campus shuttle, depending on the body and equipment fitted.

Instead of a fixed-purpose vehicle, the UPT chassis can be built into:

According to the company, depending on specification, UPT can offer:
- Modular battery packs with optional solar charging compatibility
- Individual wheel traction control and crawl mode for low-speed work
- Over-the-air software updates and smartphone connectivity
- Accessory power outlets for tools or small appliances
- IP67-rated protection against water and dust
- Provision for future autonomous or remote operation features
These features point to a platform built for harsh working environments such as construction sites, mines or farms. That may matter for Nepali operators looking at electric utility vehicles in the future.

ENVO expects the UPT to serve mainly commercial and institutional buyers, including:

Price and timeline
According to ENVO’s announcement, the UPT is expected to cost roughly between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 15 lakh, depending on configuration, based on a stated price band of US$8,000–US$12,000.
Pre-orders have reportedly opened. Production is planned later this year, and initial deliveries are targeted for early 2027, according to the company. There is currently no official information on Nepal availability.
