Nepali licence holders can now correct personal details on their driving licence online through the Department of Transport Management's new Electronic Driving License and Vehicle Registration System.
What can be corrected
Drivers can edit basic information on their licence:
- First name and surname
- Date of birth
- Father's and mother's names
- Permanent address
- Mobile number and email address
Every updated field must match the details on the National Identity Card. If the National ID itself is wrong, that has to be fixed first.
Where to apply
EDLVRS went live nationwide on Shrawan 1, 2083 (17 July 2026) and runs through separate portals for all seven provinces. Users must open the portal of the province where their licence record sits and look for the "License Correction Application" section on the homepage.
Step-by-step process
To request a correction, licence holders need to:
- Enter their name, National ID number, National ID photo, licence number, mobile number and email
- Receive a one-time password on the given mobile number and enter it to open the dashboard
- Select the fields to correct and type in the updated details
- Confirm that everything entered is accurate and hit "Submit Update Request"
The system then shows a final summary of changes. Users can cancel if they spot a mistake or click "Yes, Submit" to send the request.
What happens after submission
The online application goes to the relevant transport office for verification. Once officials check and approve the request, the corrected details appear in the EDLVRS licence record.
For many drivers who only need to fix a spelling error or wrong contact detail, this online route should make licence maintenance simpler and quicker than a physical visit to the transport office.
