BYD’s Shark 6 plug-in hybrid pickup has made its first public appearance in Nepal at the ongoing **NADA Auto Show 2026 in Kathmandu. The vehicle is being displayed by Cimex Inc.**, the authorized distributor of BYD in Nepal.

Nepal pricing and launch dates have not been announced, so the Shark 6 is not yet on sale. It is currently being showcased to gauge interest and introduce the model to Nepali buyers.

Powertrain and performance

The Shark 6 is built on BYD’s DMO Super Hybrid Off-road Platform, where DMO stands for Dual Mode Off-road. It combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with two electric motors, one on each axle, creating an all-wheel drive plug-in hybrid system.

  • Front motor output: 170 kW and 310 Nm
  • Rear motor output: 150 kW and 340 Nm
  • Combined system output: 321 kW (around 430 hp) and 650 Nm of torque

BYD claims the Shark 6 can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 5.7 seconds, with a top speed of 160 kmph.

Battery, range and capability

The pickup uses a 29.58 kWh BYD Blade Battery. On battery power alone, it offers a claimed electric driving range of up to 100 km, with a combined range of up to 840 km when the petrol engine and hybrid system are used together.

In terms of utility, the Shark 6 has an 835 kg payload capacity and a maximum towing capacity of 2,500 kg, making it suitable for both personal and light commercial use.

The Shark 6 is a full-size double-cab pickup with the following dimensions:

  • Width: 1,971 mm
  • Height: 1,925 mm
  • Wheelbase: 3,260 mm

Interior and tech features

Inside, the Shark 6 features a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a rotating infotainment touchscreen. The infotainment system supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Off-road hardware and drive modes

The Shark 6 comes with four-wheel drive and multiple terrain modes, including Sand, Mud and Snow. It also features independent suspension to improve comfort and stability on rough roads.

For now, the BYD Shark 6 remains a showcase model in Nepal, with price and booking details yet to be confirmed. Nepali buyers can see the pickup in person at the NADA Auto Show 2026 and get an early sense of what this plug-in hybrid pickup could offer when it eventually goes on sale.
