BYD has officially introduced the Racco electric kei car in Sri Lanka. This marks the first time the model has been sold outside of its home market in Japan. The vehicle is currently available at an introductory price of 11,450,000 Sri Lankan rupees, which is approximately $34,615. This pricing remains in effect until November 9, 2026.
In Nepal, the Racco is not currently available for sale, and there has been no official announcement regarding a local launch. The small electric vehicle segment in Nepal is currently served by models such as the MG Comet. The MG Comet Executive is priced at Rs 18.75 lakh, while the Excite variant is priced at Rs 21.50 lakh.
The Racco is built to meet Japanese kei car regulations, featuring a compact, boxy design that maximizes interior space. It stands 1,800 mm tall and offers up to 1,372 litres of cargo capacity when the rear seats are folded. The vehicle is powered by a 47 kW motor and utilizes BYD’s Blade LFP battery technology. Buyers can choose between two battery capacities: a 22.4 kWh pack providing a range of up to 210 km, or a 35.84 kWh pack offering up to 310 km.

While the Racco is priced significantly higher in Sri Lanka than in Japan—where it retails between 2,140,000 and 2,497,000 yen—this difference reflects local import duties and market positioning. The vehicle includes features such as Level 2 driver assistance systems, a 10.1-inch infotainment screen, and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability. It also supports DC fast charging, a feature not commonly found in the micro-EVs currently sold in Nepal.
