BYD Atto 2 vs Dongfeng Nammi 06: Two Popular EV SUVs Under Rs 50 Lakh Compared

Nepal’s electric SUV market below Rs 50 lakh is crowded now, and two names are pulling most of the attention from family buyers: the BYD Atto 2 and Dongfeng Nammi 06 (Nammi Vigo). According to the distributors, both have moved quickly to the front of the compact EV SUV pack, and the Atto 2 has already been imported in more than 2,000 units.

Motor and battery

Both SUVs are front-wheel-drive and their output is close.

  • BYD Atto 2: 100 kW motor
  • Dongfeng Nammi 06: 99 kW motor

The Atto 2 uses BYD’s LFP Blade Battery rated at 51.13 kWh, with a claimed WLTP range of around 345 km. It supports 7 kW AC charging and up to 82 kW DC fast charging, along with V2L (vehicle-to-load) functionality, according to the company’s published specifications.

Nammi 06 comes with two LFP battery options: 44.94 kWh and 51.87 kWh. The larger pack goes directly against the Atto 2 in capacity and range. According to the distributor’s information, it supports 7 kW AC charging and DC charging up to 167 kW. Claimed driving range for the two SUVs with similar-size batteries is broadly comparable in mixed use.

Size, ground clearance and boot space

On paper, both are compact SUVs, but the proportions are different.

  • BYD Atto 2: 4,310 mm long, 1,830 mm wide, 1,675 mm high, 2,620 mm wheelbase, 200 mm ground clearance, about 400 L boot space.
  • Dongfeng Nammi 06: 4,306 mm long, 1,868 mm wide, 1,645 mm high, 2,775 mm wheelbase, 185 mm ground clearance, about 500 L boot space.

Nammi 06 has the longer wheelbase and bigger boot, so rear legroom and luggage room should be better. The Atto 2 sits higher off the ground, which may suit buyers who drive on rough or uneven roads regularly. Shorter routes won’t punish either one.

Interior and comfort features

Nammi 06 uses a minimal, modern cabin theme with:

  • 12.8-inch central touchscreen and 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster
  • Oval steering wheel with steering-column gear selector
  • Hidden storage in the centre tunnel and wireless charging pad
  • Heated, ventilated and massage front seats (as per variant)
  • Soft-touch materials, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting and 6 speakers

The Atto 2 leans more toward tech and practicality:

  • 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen and 8.8-inch LCD instrument panel
  • Flat-bottom multi-function steering wheel
  • 50 W wireless cooling charging pad and multiple storage areas
  • Powered and ventilated front seats with leatherette upholstery (variant-wise)
  • 8 speakers, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, voice assist and electric tailgate

One clear difference is the sunroof. Nammi 06 offers a panoramic sunroof, while Atto 2 does not offer a sunroof option.

Safety and driver assistance

Both SUVs come with a strong safety package, including multiple airbags, ABS, stability control, hill assist and a 360-degree camera system. Each model also offers Level 2 ADAS features such as adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assistance, though the branding and exact function set differ by brand and variant.

Nammi 06 uses a DJI-powered Level 2 ADAS suite, while Atto 2 features BYD’s own Level 2 advanced driver assistance system and BYD Digital Key with NFC card access.

Design highlights

The Atto 2 carries BYD’s latest design language, with sleek LED headlights, slim DRLs and a clean closed front fascia. The side profile gets 17-inch alloy wheels with black cladding, while the rear has a full-width LED light bar with a distinctive infinity-ring pattern that gives it a strong night signature.

Nammi 06 takes a more futuristic and sporty route, with a closed grille, sharp LED headlamps, C-shaped DRLs, strong shoulder lines and 17-inch alloys. The rear uses a pixel-style LED light design. According to the distributor, unique touches include a split "Heaven and Earth" tailgate, exterior speakers, welcome-memory seats and music-sync ambient lighting on higher variants.

Price and value

After the latest price revisions published by Cimex Inc., the BYD Atto 2 is listed at around Rs 48.99 lakh in Nepal for its main variant.

According to MAW Vriddhi, the authorised distributor for Dongfeng, the Nammi 06 (Vigo) currently starts at around Rs 43.99 lakh, so it is roughly Rs 5 lakh cheaper than the Atto 2 with a comparable battery configuration.

Both SUVs sit on dedicated EV platforms, with BYD e-Platform 3.0 and cell-to-body tech for the Atto 2, and Dongfeng’s Quantum Architecture 3 for Nammi 06. For most buyers, the decision will come down to priorities: higher ground clearance and BYD’s Blade Battery tech with a strong brand presence, or Nammi 06’s larger boot, panoramic sunroof, faster DC charging and lower entry price.
