Xiaomi has started sales of the Skynomad N70 range-extended electric SUV in China, adding a large five-seat model to its growing EV line-up. The SUV is aimed at families wanting long electric range with the backup of a petrol generator.

Price and positioning

  • Skynomad N70 Pro price (China): about USD 31,275 (≈ Rs 41–42 lakh)
  • Skynomad N70 Max price (China): about USD 35,745 (≈ Rs 47–48 lakh)

Exact Nepal plans, prices and launch timing have not been confirmed. Any arrival here would depend on a local Xiaomi auto partner, which has not been announced yet.

Size and exterior

The Skynomad N70 is a five-seat SUV measuring 4,960 mm long, 1,998 mm wide and 1,765 mm high, with a 2,950 mm wheelbase. That wheelbase is 23 mm longer than the Mercedes-Benz GLE, putting the N70 in the full-size SUV bracket.

Key exterior details include: - 19- and 21-inch alloy wheel options - Block-style LED headlights - Semi-hidden flush door handles - A distinctive ring-shaped full-width tail lamp

Cabin, seats and comfort tech

Xiaomi has focused heavily on turning the N70 cabin into a lounge-like space:

  • Front seats can rotate 180 degrees to face the rear passengers, turning the cabin into a meeting or family space when parked.
  • Front seats offer 16-point massage and a zero-gravity recline function.
  • Second-row seats recline up to 135 degrees, with heating and ventilation as standard.
  • The SUV offers up to 1,410 mm of knee room in the second row.

Boot space is generous: - 1,203 liters of luggage space with seats up - 2,425 liters with the rear seats folded

The N70 Max adds more luxury features: - 256-color ambient lighting - Rear control screen for passengers - Fold-out in-car tables

Screens, infotainment and sound

The dashboard is dominated by multiple screens:

  • 16.1-inch central touchscreen for infotainment and vehicle controls
  • 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster for the driver
  • 20-inch head-up display (HUD) projecting key info onto the windscreen

There is no conventional center tunnel between the front seats. Instead, the N70 offers extra storage space and an aisle-like armrest, improving movement inside the cabin.

Rear passengers get: - Roof-mounted 21.4-inch entertainment screen - A 9-liter refrigerator for drinks and snacks

Audio systems differ by variant: - N70 Pro: 14-speaker sound system - N70 Max: 25-speaker premium audio

Powertrain: extended-range electric setup

The Skynomad N70 uses an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) powertrain. Here, the petrol engine mainly acts as a generator, while the wheels are driven by electric motors.

Common generator: - 1.5-liter petrol engine, rated at 112 kW (150 hp) - Engine works as a generator feeding electricity to the battery - Supports 92, 95 and 98 RON fuel - Claimed maintenance interval: once every three years or 30,000 km

N70 Pro (rear-wheel drive)

  • Motor: 210 kW rear-drive electric motor
  • Battery: 52 kWh LFP (lithium iron phosphate)
  • CLTC electric-only range: 351 km
  • Total claimed EREV range: up to 1,351 km

N70 Max (all-wheel drive)

  • Motor: 310 kW dual-motor all-wheel drive
  • Battery: 76 kWh NMC (nickel-manganese-cobalt)
  • CLTC electric-only range: 505 km
  • Total claimed EREV range: up to 1,461 km

Performance and chassis (N70 Max): - 0–100 km/h: 5.5 seconds - Top speed: 190 km/h - Air suspension with adjustable ride height - Turning radius: 5.67 meters

Safety and driver assistance

The Skynomad N70 comes with nine airbags and a heavily reinforced structure:

  • Around 91.3% of the body uses high-strength steel and aluminum alloy.
  • Fourteen sections of the body-in-white use hot-stamped steel with tensile strength up to 2,200 MPa, aimed at improving crash safety.

For active safety and driver assistance, the SUV features:

  • A LiDAR sensor for precise environment scanning
  • Nvidia Thor-U chip with up to 700 TOPS of computing power
  • Support for Xiaomi’s HAD large model
  • Navigate on Autopilot (NOA) functions on urban roads and highways, allowing lane changes, overtaking and guided navigation under driver supervision

What this could mean for Nepal buyers

For now, the Skynomad N70 is limited to the Chinese market, and no Nepal distributor or launch timeline has been announced. However, key points that may interest Nepali buyers if it ever arrives are:

  • Long electric range with petrol backup, reducing range anxiety on long highway trips.
  • Large, spacious cabin with rotating seats and a flat floor, useful for family and business use.
  • Strong focus on comfort features and screens, plus advanced driver assistance.

Until an official Nepal plan is revealed, the Skynomad N70 remains a China-market model to watch, rather than a confirmed option for Nepali buyers.
